The results for our very own Syllabus Ballroom Challenge at NYU have been posted. For many of our newcomers this was their first real competition and they did great. A detailed breakdown of how every NYU couple did will be posted soon. For now, you can go and search for your name and/or number and you can find the judge’s score sheets.

Hello Everyone,

Unfortunately the organizers of the Clover Star Classic, sighting the impending snowstorm due to hit the Northeast, have postponed the competition that was to take place this Saturday, February 6th, with a makeup date to be announced.

As such, the NYU Ballroom Dance Team will not be traveling to Philadelphia this weekend, but we do hope that doesn’t stop our competitors from continuing to practice in preparation for the many other competitions taking place this semester!

For those who were looking forward to work with Jennifer yesterday (2/2), she has rescheduled that practice session for SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14th, at 1PM at Dance Chelsea.

Her lessons will still take place at the normal time on Tuesdays.

Even if you have previously registered through our survey system, you will have to re-enroll since this is a new and improved system. Hope to see you registered for ALL of our Spring competitions!

The NYU Ballroom Team kicked off 2010 in style at the 20th Anniversary Manhattan Amateur Classic Dance Competition in Midtown. Here’s how the NYU Team fared in a competition that saw roughly 700 dancers:

Hello Everyone!

The NYU Ballroom Dance Team would like to wish you a Happy New Year! 2010 promises to be a great year for the NYU Ballroom Team, and we hope you are excited to get to work and compete in numerous competitions, including NYU’s competition in March. Just to give you an idea of how busy we will be this semester, here’s a list of the interesting things going on in January:

TEAM MEETING:
Kicking off the new semester will be a meeting in Kimmel 909 at 7pm on Monday, January 25th.

DANCE CHELSEA:
Stanley’s lessons will get started again next Wednesday, January 27th at the usual 8:30pm time slot.

CLUB FEST:
We are going to be in the E and L Auditorium on Thursday, January 28th, from 3-7 promoting the club and basically being awesome. You should come and be awesome, too!

NEED SHOES?:
Some of our top dancers will be escorting newcomers to WORLDTONE on Saturday, January 30th, to get fitted for shoes. Get the right shoe for you with the help of experts and have a lot of fun. It beats shopping by yourself!

HAIR AND MAKEUP WORKSHOP:
Now that you have your shoes and your moves (hopefully), it’s time to work on your look for competitions. On Sunday, January 31, you’ll be able to work with top dancers who will help you with makeup, eyelashes, hair (this is important for guys too!) and other odds and ends to make you most appealing to the judges.

…and that’s just for the end of January! Stay tuned for upcoming news about the fun times planned for February!

To cap off a successful fall semester of dancing, the NYU Ballroom Dance Team cordially invites you to bowl with us at Bowlmor Lanes (University Place btw. 12th and 13th streets) on Friday, December 11th, from 6-8 pm. Being the NYU Ballroom Dance Team, we should certainly have the best celebration dances after bowling strikes!

So get ready to have fun and take a break from your schoolwork and come hang out with your buddies at Bowlmor!
